The 5 Core Tenets of Faith
A foundational understanding of our beliefs and guiding principles.

1. One God, Three Persons
There is one God, the God of Israel. "The Lord our God, the Lord is One."

Deuteronomy 6:4 - Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.

But Isaiah spoke of Three: the Lord, His Spirit, and the Sent One.

Isaiah 48:16 - And now the Lord God has sent Me, and His Spirit.

Then Jesus came and introduced us to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28:19 - Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Paul also uses these three Persons in his benedictory prayer.

2 Corinthians 13:14 - The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
2. The Deity of Christ
Jesus Christ is fully man, but also fully God.

John 1:1, 14 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.

Jesus forgives sins, something only God can do.

Mark 2:5-7 - Who can forgive sins but God alone?

Jesus accepted worship, which is something only God deserves.

Matthew 14:33 - Then those who were in the boat worshipped Him, saying, 'Truly you are the Son of God.'

John 9:38 - Then the man said, 'Lord, I believe,' and he worshipped Him.

3. The Authority of Scripture
The Bible is the very Word of God.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 - All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.

It is the final and only authority that governs the Church.

Isaiah 8:20 - To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Acts 17:11 - They received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

It is the lifeline of every believer.

Matthew 4:4 - Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

Psalm 119:105 - Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

4. Saved by Grace Through Faith
Grace is the very means by which salvation became possible.

Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works.

Genuine faith in Jesus activates that grace.

Romans 5:1-2 - Faith by itself , if it does not have works, is dead.

Matthew 7:21 - Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father.

5. Life After Death
Jesus died and rose again to give us eternal life.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 - Christ died for our sins... He was buried, and He was raised on the third day.

He is coming back again, just as He said.

Acts 1:11 - This same Jesus... will come back in the same way you have seen Him go into heaven.

When He comes, He will judge, and people will go to either heaven or hell.

John 5:28-29 - Those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned.

Matthew 25:46 - Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.
